Dr. Jons Messedat, born in Cologne in 1965, is architect and industrial designer. He studied architecture at RWTH Aachen University, the University of Stuttgart and had a scholarship to study in London. In parallel, he studied industrial design at the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design, with Diploma under Richard Sapper. In 1991 he received the award for excellent Design by the Design Center Stuttgart. 

 

In the office of Sir Norman Foster in London he was responsible for the exhibition design of the Design Museum Zeche Zollverein in Essen. He also played a key role in the development of the interior design and art concept for the Reichstag building in Berlin. This was followed by teaching and research at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar where he did his doctorate on corporate architecture.

 

In 2004, he founded the Institute for Corporate Architecture in Stuttgart with a focus on the development, consulting and realisation of CA strategies and concepts for companies and brands. For example, he developed the design line for buildings of the Emschergenossenschaft (public water board) and temporary installations entitled “Schaufenster des Wandels” (showcase of change) for the Cultural Capital in Europe RUHR.2010. For the first “Award for Marketing and Architecture” in Switzerland, he was jury chairman and in 2012 judge in the competition “Structural Corporate Design in the Humboldt-Forum” in Berlin. In 2016 he was appointed to the Jury of the FAMAB award, the Creative award für spatial communication. 

 

He is visiting lecturer at universities in Switzerland and the USA and since 2007 at the Stuttgart University of Applied Science for the International Master of Interior-Architectural Design IMIAD. For chambers of architects, the Association of Arts and Culture of the German Economy at the Federation of German Industries and the Design Council he holds lectures and seminars, including the series “MehrWert Architektur” (Value Added Architecture) for companies. He is the author of numerous publications on new brand worlds and corporate architecture. Since 2016 he holds a professorship for trade fair, exibition and shop design at HAWK University of Applied Arts in Hildeshein, Germay.
